A Letter from the
cast and crew

Dear scoundrels, and rogues,

While the Golden Age of Piracy lasted less than 50 years, they have fascinated us for centuries since. From historical icons like Blackbeard, Morgan, and Kidd, to their Pop Culture counterparts like Jack Sparrow, Long John Silver, and Monkey D. Luffy, we reach for their stories time and time again.

Why are we drawn to pirate tales like a siren song? Well, we think it’s because these sea-faring, swashbuckling rogues represent a sense of adventure, freedom, and living life to the fullest. More than this, pirate crews often represent found family, and give a home to the outcasts. We think there is something relatable to all of us in these stories.

In this story, our pirate lovers thrive together, and share a love as boundless as the sea.

We hope you enjoy our show, it was a labor of love to create, and we are glad to share it with you.

On to the next great adventure!

Carly Belle "CB" Cason

Carly Belle (they/she/any) is a founder of Counterfeit Combat, Head Acting Coach with Model Act Studios, and is thrilled to be back in Calico Jack's boots!

With roots deep in the heart of Texas, CB has over a decade of training and experience in combat for stage and screen. She hopes the audience comes to love this ragtag group of bi-panic pirates just as much as she does!

Angela Rak

Angela Rak was a girl who dreamed of being a boy hundreds of years ago and running off to sea. So she grew up playing with sticks as swords and became a woman who wrote a play wherein her character dresses up as a man and runs away to sea. Along the way she got a degree in both Creative Writing and Theatre, spent a lot of time learning how to play with actual swords, and started a stage combat company so she could teach other people how to play with swords too. Check out Counterfeit Combat and come take a class, but first please enjoy the show!

Mary Read

Chloe Streif

Chloe was drawn to pirates at a young age, and dressed up as one for halloween many years in a row. It might be a major reason as to why she decided to take up swordfighting as a career as an adult, and she couldn't be happier with the choice. With about 10 years of stage combat training under her (sword) belt, plus several years training in the stunt industry, she feels like she would be ready to take on the world much like Mary Read did, should there ever be a need for 1700's pirates again.

Kate Fauss

Kate Fauss (She/They) is ready for another musical voyage aboard the Ranger as resident pirate Bard! This is their third project with Counterfeit Combat and they are beyond excited to bring this wild queer romp to a new audience!

Taylor Tolleson

Taylor Tolleson (she/her) is a theater artist based in Chicago and is so excited to be here. When she’s not lighting pirates at game board conventions, you can find her running lights and sound for magicians in the Andersonville neighborhood, or if the stars are aligned, she’ll be DJing your friends wedding in Chicago. She would like to thank Counterfeit Combat for trusting her somewhat chaotic but never questionable lighting choices and her cat for not being a bad girl while she’s here at Gen Con. If you see her walking around the con, tell her the secret password “yabbadabbadoo”. Hopefully she will forget this is in her bio and be pleasantly confused all weekend.

Thank you for supporting
